The Dublin hurling manager's job is Anthony Daly's - if he wants it.

That's the message from County Board chairman Andy Kettle as Dublin chiefs are set to sit down with 'Dalo' before the weekend to thrash out his future.

"We're not looking at anyone else," Kettle said to the Irish Daily Star. "I would pose the question, are there many people to look at?

"Top managers like Anthony Daly are thin on the ground. Anthony owes Dublin nothing. We owe Anthony Daly an awful lot.

"He took a team that was lacking in belief, was probably a little short on inter-county skills - and fashioned them into real contenders.

"There's lots to discuss. I don't think a year's extension is what's required for Dublin hurling going forward.

"I think it's a three-year project. We have to sit down, flesh that out and see how it works. We have gotten to a certain level.

"I won't say we're comfortable at that level, but we need to push on another little bit to get to the top level."
