Richie Power put his hand up for a place in Kilkenny's All-Ireland hurling final starting line-up by bagging 1-13 for his club at the weekend.

Power, who was introduced as a substitute in the Cats' semi-final win over Limerick, was in scintillating form for Carrickshock as they staved off the threat of relegation with a 1-24 to 2-12 victory over St. Martin's, who remain in the relegation mire.

Henry Shefflin will also be pushing hard for a starting place after posting 0-9 in Ballyhale's 2-19 to 0-10 win over Tullaroan. The Reid brothers, TJ and Eoin, both found the net in the opening half as the Shamrocks qualified for the Shield final, which is contested by the runners-up from each league section.

Richie Hogan was also on song for relegation-threatened Danesfort, who had to settle for a 0-10 apiece draw with Erin's Own after Conor Fogarty scored a late equalising free for the Castlecomer side.

County champions Clara inflicted a first defeat of the season on O'Loughlin Gaels (1-15 to 0-17), but the city side had already qualified for the league final against All-Ireland intermediate club champions Rower-Instioge, who defeated Fenian's 1-13 to 1-9.

Dicksboro overcame city rivals James Stephens by 2-18 to 2-14 to progress to the Shield final against Ballyhale. The league finishing places will determine the draw for the knockout championship which commences on the weekend of September 19-21.
