Paul Grimley has handed in his resignation as Armagh senior football manager.

The Irish Daily Star reports that Grimley met with county chiefs on Monday in the wake of Saturday's narrow quarter-final defeat to Donegal and informed them that he will not be staying on for a third term.

Grimley was unavailable for comment last night while the Armagh County were also uncontactable but the development paves the way for coach Kieran McGeeney to take over the reins.
