Brian Cody won't be swayed by sentiment when it comes to deciding whether or not to start Henry Shefflin against Limerick, according to former Cats full-back Noel Hickey.

The Ballyhale maestro is chasing the magnificent milestone of 10 All-Ireland medals but his former team-mate Hickey told the Irish Daily Star: "It's shown this year. One or two matches he (Cody) hasn't picked him.

"This weekend maybe Henry might have it all to do to start, I'd say."

Hickey - who also has nine Celtic souvenirs in his medal collection - continued: "Henry is mad hurling. He's one of the first lads in training every evening, an hour before training, lashing it about.

"He just loves going in training and hurling with the lads. Obviously to win 10 All-Irelands is massive. Myself and Henry have nine.

"The year we won the nine we were after training and hurling away and afterwards it's great to say you have won nine All-Irelands. But no, I wouldn't say it would be a real driving force.

"You'd hear people say it would be a driving force for the rest of the players to win 10 for Henry, but I wouldn't say it would come into any of the lads' heads at all.

"They'd just be going out to win the match and beat Limerick, is all that would be in their heads.

"You couldn't be preparing thinking 'ah I'll try a bit harder now for Henry to make him win 10 All-Irelands."
