Cork manager Brian Cuthbert has confirmed that his opposite number James Horan refused to shake his hand after yesterday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.

The snub followed a stormy end to the game with Cork believing there was still a minute to play after Colm O'Neill tapped over a late free to leave the minimum in it, while Mayo boss Horan later accused the Rebels of indulging in 'disgraceful' behaviour after selector Ronan McCarthy had accused Mayo forwards Cillian O'Connor and Kevin McLoughlin of being "very good at tactical fouling" in the lead-up to the game, while Cuthbert himself described the Westerners as being 'streetwise'.

"It's his own business. I put up my hand to shake it. That's his own business. I've nothing to say on that," Cuthbert said of the handshake that never was.

Despite exiting the championship, Cuthbert was pleased with the spirit shown by his players, who had been slated after their Munster final collapse to Kerry.

"It was an All-Ireland quarter-final, there was everything at stake and certainly I felt we were up for it. We'd a lot of intensity about us. It looked a lot different than Páirc Uí Chaoimh (Munster final) anyway," he continued.

"But that spell after half-time was the turning of the game. If it was two or three points, but when you're seven points it's a lot. But at the same time, we could have been there or thereabouts at the end.

"We lost by a point and I would be very hopeful they would be there or thereabouts very, very soon. We will dust ourselves down and go again."
