Limerick midfielder Paudie O'Brien has revealed that their goal at the start of the year was to return to Croke Park.

The Shannonsiders reached that target in emphatic style last weekend when they demolished Wexford in the All-Ireland quarterfinal at Semple Stadium.

That win sets them up for a semi final clash against Kilkenny at Croke Park, a place where Limerick have not had the best of luck in recent years.

"We are delighted we are back where we were last year and that was the goal - our goal at the start of the year was to get back to Croke Park," said O'Brien.

"We are not fools and we know it will be talked about in the week leading to the game because of the disappointment we had last year.

"We don't really talk about last year - that is well and truly behind us because this is a new team and new management and the Kilkenny match is a new game and to be honest if you want to go on and win an All-Ireland going the route of playing Kilkenny is the way to go."
