Orchard County feel "disrespected and dismissed"

Former Armagh manager and now selector Peter McDonnell
The Armagh senior football camp briefly broke its silence yesterday, with selector Peter McDonnell claiming they have been "disrespected and dismissed".

McDonnell spoke briefly to Gaelic Life magazine to outline the reasons for the Orchard County's ongoing media ban - which was imposed in the wake of their Ulster SFC quarter-final win over Cavan on June 8th, and subsequent fine and suspensions - and he confirmed that the aggrieved players and management will continue to blank "certain elements" of the media for the remainder of their championship involvement:

"We would strongly feel that we have been disrespected and dismissed and portrayed inaccurately," the former Armagh manager notes.

"A false impression is created and sought to be created - and not just during this year, but during previous years. And to that end, until resolution is achieved there will be a coolness and, indeed, an absolute and total failure to communicate with certain elements of the media.

"People would need to retrace their steps very accurately. Respect and good manners are not difficult qualities to carry."
