Galway clubs warned over players 'hanging out car windows'

There'll be no more of this in Galway
Galway county board insists it's not being a 'party pooper' after issuing a directive to clubs to stop players from 'hanging out car windows' with trophies during victory cavalcades.

The board's health and wellbeing committee has warned that it will ban all cavalcade homecomings if the 'dangerous' practice isn't ended. The committee says it is taking the measure in the interest of children's health and safety, and to eliminate the threat of insurance claims being made.

"We have launched a safety campaign for all clubs involved in motorcade homecomings and call for an end to the practice of young children and young players hanging out of the windows of cars holding the cup and club jerseys," county board children's officer Pat Monaghan told the Connacht Tribune.

"It's important that team managers, club officers and parents placed interest in the safety of children and to stop such action immediately or cancel all cavalcade homecomings. All clubs are to be notified and requested to comply with the request."
