Cork manager Brian Cuthbert reckons no one will give his side a chance against Mayo in next Sunday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.

Speaking to RTE Radio One following today's 0-21 to 1-11 qualifier victory over Sligo in O'Connor Park, the Cork boss said: "They've been in the All-Ireland final the last two years, they are a very experienced team, they're a good team and they will cause us a lot of problems.

"We're going to have to up it big time from today but we're looking forward to the challenge, no one will give us a chance but we'll go for it anyway."

After the disappointment of the performance against Kerry in the Munster SFC final, Cuthbert was relieved to get the better of the Yeats County.

"From where we're coming from we had to win the game today obviously. We were very disappointed with the Munster final but I thought we showed a lot of desire today, a lot of hunger and intensity and played very, very well at times.

"I'm delighted we got over the line, that's what today was all about."

The Cork management and players have been the subject of plenty of criticism since the 12-point reversal at the hands of their arch-rivals but Cuthbert hit back at the personal tone of the negativity.

"Some of it you could say was deserved the way we played but some of it was definitely unwarranted. It was very personal towards the players and the management but, look, that's the level we're at, that's what people do.

"Once we have a united dressing-room which we do and everyone working the way we have, we're delighted and very confident that we can go places.

"We'll give it a right shot, the pressure is off us. Nobody will give us a chance the next day and we're looking forward to it."
