David Koechner, the stenton-wearing star of the Anchorman movies, got a sample of life as a club hurler when he visited Dublin during the week.

Koechner, who plays sports-mad Champ Kind in the hit movies, befriended members of the St. Jude's hurling team and attended a challenge match between the Templeogue club and Wicklow opposition on Thursday night. St. Jude's later presented him with a jersey and hurl, with one club member saying the actor was 'handy' with the hurl.

Koechner tweeted a photo of himself and his new pals enjoying a few scoops in St. Jude's clubhouse after the game. "Me and the Hurling lads @clgnaomhjude having a pint after the win," it read.

The actor and his wife, Leigh, have been in Dublin sampling the culture, having previously visited the capital last December along with fellow cast members Steve Carrell, Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd for the Irish premiere of Anchorman 2.
