Down to 14-men, All-Ireland champions Clare find themselves in a perilous position at half-time of today's All-Ireland SHC qualifier against visitors Wexford in Ennis.

The Banner County trail the Model County by 0-10 to 2-9 and the dismissal of All-Star Podge Collins just before the break leaves them with a mountain to climb.

Referee Cathal McAllister left the field with the boos of Banner County supporters ringing in his ears after he issued Collins with a straight red-card for a helmet interference offence on David Redmond.

Davy Fitzgerald also had a few words to say to the Cork official and no doubt his players will be told a few home truths during the half-time team-talk!

Conor McDonald and Liam Og McGovern, meanwhile, netted the goals to give Liam Dunne's side a 2-7 to 0-3 lead after 17 minutes but Clare have since got a foothold in the game.

It remains to be seen, however, what impact Collins' sending-off will have on the final outcome.
