Creedon: Cork subs were the difference

Peter Creedon admits Tipperary missed a glorious chance to beat Cork in the Munster SFC for the first time since 1944 on Saturday night.
The underdogs were poised to reach their first provincial final since 2002 until Aidan Walsh shot three late points to give Cork a victory they scarcely deserved. Walsh, fellow dual star Eoin Cadogan and former All Star Colm O'Neill were among the big names the Rebels were able to bring off the bench, and Creedon felt this was decisive.
"Our bench probably didn't have the impact theirs had, and they're factors," the crestfallen Tipp manager said.
"I thought the ref gave one or two handy ones, but the ref is always going to be a scapegoat for calls. Ultimately, it was in our own hands. We had the chances. Maybe that's what keeps the romance of the GAA alive, that the 10/1 outsider can come and give the favourite a rattle."
As for the Premier County's chances of bouncing back in the All-Ireland qualifiers, the West Cork native replied: "It might be easier to recover from a hiding, which sounds silly, but we left a lot out there. And there are demands on Steven (O'Brien) and Colin (O'Riordan) for the U21 hurlers as well."
