'We know we need to up the pace'

Cork manager Jimmy Barry Murphy admits that they are not at full pace yet.

The Rebels gained promotion to Division 1A last week when they defeated Wexford in the last round of games in 1B, but the Munster side stuttered through many of their games.

They now face Tipperary in the NHL quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon and Barry-Murphy stated to the Corkman that they need to show a marked improvement against the Premier County.

"We're delighted to get out of Division 1B, after going through it unbeaten without playing to our best form," said the Cork manager.

"We know we need to up the pace of our game and improve immensely in order to be competitive against Division 1A opposition. We certainly aren't anywhere near the standard we achieved last year, although our hurling was very good at times."
