Mickey Harte admitted it was a relief for Tyrone to resume winning ways against Westmeath after last weekend's mauling by Kerry.

Speaking after the Red Hands turned on the style in the second half to rout Paul Bealin's relegation strugglers by 14 points in Omagh, the manager said: "There's a sense of relief because after what we played last week, we weren't as bad as that, and obviously we weren't as good as we appeared to be at some times there today.

"We're somewhere in between, we're a work in progress and I suppose the encouraging thing about it was that we got a lot of scores on the board. When you got a lot of scores on the board, it means that people are playing with confidence.

"It took the second half for that to come about, but that was understandable because I watched Westmeath's form in all of their games to date, and they have held their own with every team nearly for the first half. So I wasn't surprised that they were difficult to break down."
