Charlie Vernon is likely to miss Armagh's Ulster SFC preliminary round clash with Cavan on May 19 with a foot injury.

The midfielder, who played a key role in the Orchard County's survival in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League, broke a bone in his foot during a recent training session with his club Armagh Harps.

"It's difficult for Charlie because he was just back into the fold again and was very enthusiastic about everything," Armagh coach Peter McDonnell told the Irish News.

On the plus side, Kevin Dyas, James Morgan and Gary McCooney are all expected to return from injury for the trip to Kingspan Breffni Park, while Jamie Clarke will also be available after returning from his travels in South America.
