Kildare have to "go for the kill" - Doyle
15 June 2012
Kildare captain Johnny Doyle raises the NFL Div 2 Cup at Croke Park
Johnny Doyle admits that Kildare have to learn how to "go for the kill".
The Lilywhites have perennially had their championship hopes extinguished in agonising fashion in recent years and, while luck seemed to desert them in high-profile defeats to Down and Donegal in 2010 and 2011 in particular, their long-serving talisman insists that they had their chances to win both those games:
"There were a lot of times in those games that we had chances to close out games and we didn't do that," the Allenwood ace says on The GAA Show, which will be broadcast on TV3 later on today.
"It would be in the back of your mind when you get a team on the ropes: you go for the kill and win the game.
"It's easier said than done, but it's something we definitely have talked about."
