Coalisland are the first team to secure a quarter-final spot in the Tyrone SFC as the race for the O'Neill Cup began this evening.

The 2018 winners opened the championship campaign with a 2-14 to 1-14 victory over Clonoe after producing a strong second half performance to down their neighbours in Edendork.

The sides were level on 1-6 apiece at half time but a dominant spell between the 40th and 55th minutes in which Coalisland outscored the O'Rahilly's by 1-4 to 0-1 proved crucial to the outcome.

Clonoe's Daryl McGee traded goals with Coalisland's Bailey Leonard before the break and Plunkett Kane also netted for the eventual winners as the they turned the screw in the second period to advance to the last eight.
