Wicklow manager Davy Burke has revealed that he will have an almost full-strength squad to choose from for Saturday evening’s FL4 opener against Carlow at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Burke in his first year in charge has had a tough opening to his term as he revealed to the Wicklow People that up to 16 players were on the treatment table at the start of the season.

However, that has subsided considerably and Burke revealed to the Wicklow People that there are only a couple of players doubtful for this weekend’s clash against Carlow.

“We have gone from having 15 or 16 lads out at the start of the year. For the months of December and January, we had about 15 or 16 lads on the table, consistently. Now, we have two or three, at most.

“I’d imagine we have improved a good bit. I really hope we have. I think there have been a good 30/35 sessions, so you’d like to think that we are going to be a far better outfit. We’ll have a few personnel changes; I reckon Carlow probably will, too. I’d like to think that we have moved forward. We’ll find that out on Saturday.”
