Fermanagh under-20 manager Ollie Fay believes that the county’s youngsters have a bright future in the game.

They may have lost out to defending champions Derry in the Ulster SFC semi-final last Friday night, but Fay was proud of what they achieved in the campaign.

The highlight being an opening round win over a highly fancied Donegal side.

“It will give them a lot of confidence,” Fay told the Fermanagh Herald. “They are after putting it up to a fine Derry team. There’s eleven of that team there from last year.

“It just slipped out of our hands, but it will give our lads belief. Hopefully after a week or two they’ll be able to sit back and think, ‘We won a first round championship game, which hasn’t happened in a long time, and we ran the Ulster champions close and should have won’. That will hopefully give them great confidence to drive on from here.”
