Down came from behind to earn a 1-13 to 1-10 victory over Tipperary at Newry.

Donal O'Hare supplied the victors' goal in the 59th minute as the Mourne County battled to their first back-door win in five years, Corey Quinn slotting three crucial points after entering the fray off the bench.

Philip Austin's goal handed the Premier County a 1-5 to 0-5 interval lead but Paddy Tally's charges were much improved upon the restart with Pat Havern bagging a quickfire brace, replacements Quinn, Barry O'Hagan and Paul Devlin all hitting important second-half scores as they advanced to the second round.
