Medics attend to Wexford's Leigh Newport during the Leinster MFC clash against Meath at Pairc Tailteann.

Last night’s Leinster minor football championship clash between Meath and Wexford saw a whopping 13 minutes of injury-time played at Pairc Tailteann.

The Royals ran out comfortable 6-13 to 0-7 winners after the game had been held up by a second-half injury to Wexford corner-back Leigh Newport.

The defender was eventually withdrawn after Wexford’s medical team had taken every precaution and it in the 13 minutes that were added on the hosts added 2-3 to their tally to ensure a second win in as many weeks.

Meanwhile, Offaly minors paid the penalty for their missed opportunities against Dublin in Tullamore.

The home side missed two penalties and it proved crucial as the Dubs made their first-half goals from Robbie Bolger and Fionn Murray count in a 2-13 to 0-13 victory – their third on the bounce.
