Paddy McBrearty scored four points yesterday in his first game for club or county since undergoing surgery on a cruciate ligament injury last summer.
After taking part in the warm-up before Donegal's Allianz Football League Division 2 final victory over Meath nine days ago, the sharpshooter started Kilcar's Division 1 league opener against Glenswilly in Towney at full forward and finished the game with four points, including three from frees.
Despite missing Ryan McHugh, who is nursing a knee injury, Kilcar prevailed on a 2-13 to 2-8 scoreline, with Michael Murphy accounting for 1-5 (1-0 penalty and 0-3 '45s) of the losers' tally.
McBrearty's return to fitness is a huge boost to Donegal ahead of their opening Ulster SFC defence against Fermanagh next month.
