Philly McMahon has revealed he has turned down offers to run for election.
The six-time Dublin All-Ireland winning defender is actively involved in his local community and campaigns on issues like drug abuse, but he insists politics isn't for him.
"It’s definitely not something that I'd be interested in," he told the Irish Daily Mirror at the launch of Coca-Cola’s #YouthEmpowered programme yesterday.
“I’m all about platforms, where can I get the next platform? Sport is a big positive platform for me to help people. I'm not sure politics would be, at this point.
“I’m using my charity as a platform and I hope that could be something, but yeah, I need to find that next platform.”
