McInerney welcomes Bannon availability

Gerry McInerney has welcomed the news that Alan Bannon will be available for Oramore/Maree’s All-Ireland club IHC final against Charleville at Croke Park this afternoon.

The corner back has had the red card he received in the semi-final win over St Gall’s rescinded and McInerney believes justice has been done.

“He didn’t strike so we were fairly confident,” the Oranmore/Maree manager and Galway legend told the Connacht Tribune.

“If he had struck, we would have no issue, but he didn’t. So it’s great to have him. For an All-Ireland final, it would have been wrong if he wasn’t available. Now, often in the past, players have missed out in the wrong, but we are lucky.”

Throw-in at GAA headquarters is 3.15pm.
