Cunningham looking forward to league opener

Facing Mayo in Castlebar is a daunting task for most counties, but Roscommon manager Anthony Cunningham is looking forward to the challenge.

Cunningham brings his young charges to their neighbours grounds on Saturday night on the back of a Connacht FBD final win over Galway last weekend.

However, the Rossies enter the league campaign without a number of key players who are not with the squad, but Cunningham has introduced a few new faces.

And he feels that there is no better learning curve for his players than playing against the best teams in the country.

“It’s Mayo and it’s Castlebar, but we just want to be playing all those matches,” said Cunningham. “This is how we improve from week to week is the big question.

“These guys haven’t got a lot of division one football, but we’re really looking forward to it.”
