A fortnight after their county senior footballers ended their campaign for the year, the Kildare SFC resumes this weekend.

Indeed, there was little time for some players to dwell on their Super 8's campaign as they were back in action last weekend with the league finals taking place.

Also in action were many of the victorious under-20 team that won the All-Ireland title when defeating Mayo at Croke Park last Sunday week.

Athy will head into the second round in a confident mood having lifted the Division 1 title at the expense of county champions Moorefield.

The SFC sees four groups of four teams with the top team straight into the quarterfinals, while second and third in each group clash.

The bottom team in each group will battle it out to avoid relegation.

Defending champions Moorefield face Raheens in their second game, while Athy have a tough test against Carbury.
