Tally tipped for Down post

August 10, 2018

Down manager Paddy Tally

Paddy Tally has emerged as the clear favourite to succeed Eamonn Burns as Down's new senior football manager.

Tally has been an essential part of Galway's backroom team this year and The Irish News reports today that the Down management selection committee has been asked "to hold off any approach" towards him until after the Connacht champions' season is concluded.

The Tribesmen will look to upset the odds tomorrow evening when they take on Dublin at Croke Park in the All-Ireland SFC semi-finals (throw-in 5.00pm).

Tally worked under Mickey Harte's when Tyrone won their breakthrough All-Ireland in 2003 and was also a part of James McCartan's backroom team when Down reached the 2010 decider against Cork.
