Monasterevan GAA club are to boycott a fixture this weekend in protest at the Kildare County Board's decision to fix a round of league games for the same time as the All-Ireland U20 FC semi-final against Kerry.

In a statement issued via their twitter account (@MonasterevanGAA), the club explained why they won't be turning up for their SFL Division 2 game with Two Mile House...

"We as a club will be in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick supporting our Three club men and Kildare U20's Padraig Nash, John O'Toole and Dj Earley in their All Ireland Semi Final and therefore choose not to fulfill our league fixture.

"We find it incredulous that Kildare County Board should schedule league fixtures that clash with a game of this magnitude (An All Ireland Semi Final) and it is with regret that we feel compelled to take this action."
