Carlow manager Colm Bonnar has confirmed that he will be remaining at the helm for another year at least.

The Barrowsiders campaign came to a shuddering halt at the hands of Limerick in their All-Ireland SHC preliminary quarterfinal last Saturday evening. However, there were certainly many more positives to take from the year.

Promotion in the league and winners of the inaugural Joe McDonagh Cup, Carlow will regard the 2018 campaign as one, if not thee best in their history.

And the man that guided them there is not resting on his laurels as Bonnar looks to next year and mixing it with the best in the country.

"We are building and we are learning," Bonnar told the Carlow Nationalist. "We will learn and regroup. That is the standard we have to play to.

"We knew it was going to be a huge test coming in this late stage in the season. Limerick have been well tested with four serious games in Munster. You could see they were well focused. They knew exactly what they were doing and if anything it showed us what we are trying to do to get up to that level."

He added: "We were training for a different kind of competition. They were training for the Liam MacCarthy and it showed. But we will have a different mindset next year."
