Kilcoo manager Paul McIver has distanced himself from speculation linking him to the vacant Down senior manager's post.

Eamonn Burns stepped down last week after three seasons at the Mourne County helm and McIver - who has led the Magpies to three successive Down SFCs - suggests that he won't be in the running to succeed him:

"I'm currently involved with one of the best teams in Ulster and I'm happy enough with that. We're going really well at the moment," he told The Newry Reporter.

"I thought Eamonn would have stayed on. Last year, they had a brilliant year. This year, I suppose they had a lot of injuries and I suppose football is so competitive at the minute. But there's real talent in Down."
