UL crushed UCC with an emphatic 4-18 to 0-8 victory at their home grounds this afternoon to move into the semi-finals of the Fitzgibbon Cup.

Goals from Barry Murphy and Tipperary's Jason Forde helped the hosts towards a commanding 2-10 to 0-6 half-time lead, with Cork forward Shane Kingston registering all of the trailers' first-half scores from frees.

Clare ace Tony Kelly and Murphy bumped the lead up to 12 early in the restart before the former did brilliantly to win a penalty which Forde dispatched confidently to the UCC net.

UL could afford to empty their bench after that and went on to earn another penalty which Murphy tucked away, widening the gap to 21 before Gearoid Hegarty rounded off the rout.

The Limerick students now face DJ Carey's IT Carlow side next Tuesday night for a place in the competition's final, while the competition's remaining quarter-final sees UCD take on DIT at Belfield this evening (throw-in 7pm).
