Monaghan's Stephen Finnegan tries to hold off Peter Healy of Antrim

Antrim will be without defender Peter Healy for this month’s Dr McKenna Cup campaign as he looks to regain full fitness ahead of his county’s National League campaign.

The Saffrons begin their 2018 season tomorrow night when they take on Mickey Harte’s Tyrone at Healy Park in Omagh (throw-in 8pm) and Harte’s counterpart Lenny Harbinson says he’s focussed on getting the strongest team available for his side’s Division 4 opener against Leitrim on January 28th.

"Promotion is our big aim and we will need everyone on board for this," Harbinson told the Belfast Telegraph.

"Peter Healy is among the players that can help us achieve this so we have to monitor him and others who are returning from injury carefully."

He added: "Obviously when we meet Tyrone we expect that they will be fielding something of an experimental side just like us. They will be bidding to win the McKenna Cup for the seventh year on the trot so it's going to be a tough match."
