Corvan, Maggie

April 03, 2008
The Late Maggie Corvan As you are all aware we lost a great supporter of Keady hurling in Mrs Maggie Corvan who died appropriately over Easter Week and was buried on Easter Sunday. As we all know whenever there was a hurling match Maggie seemed to be there no rnatter how far down country it happened to be, in fact in recent years some of the exploits took her to the Feiles in Cork and to Kilkenny. Maggie was never prouder than when her grandchildren were starring on the hurling field which was quite often the case with Conor "The Wizard", Damien (2007 Feile Capt.) and County Star John playing irnportant roles in so much over the last few years. Maggie enjoyed her wee trips away especially to the Feiles in Cork and in 2007 to Kilkenny where she watched her grandson Damien lift the Bishop Birch Trophy. Quite often Maggie would be standing watching a game with a few people and next minute she was off around the field perimeter and on return she could give a commentary on all that happened. Maggie lived in Fir Green with her loving husband Frank and quite often one or two of the grandchildren stayed with the both of them. Indeed Maggie seemed to have a very speclal affiliation with young people even beyond her family as was very evident from the out showing of emotion at her funeral. Keady hurling has an awful lot to thank this great lady for not only for her never ending support but also for what her family has given to our club over the last 10 to 15 yrs and we all would like to express our sympathies to all the Corvan clan especially Maggie's husband Frank, her loving sons Liam, Frank & Dermott and to all her grand children who will miss her more than anyone.
