Molloy, Susan

June 14, 2007
The late Susan Molloy It was a great sadness that the news was received of the untimely passing of former St. Brenda's player Susan Molloy (nee McArdle). Susan was a member of the 1986 and 1987 Senior Championship winning teams having joined the Nab in the 1986 season. Whilst not a Nab native, Susan quickly made herself 'one of us' as she fitted in with her quick wit, good humour and great sense of determination to succeed in the maroon and white uniform. Susan was the main player of the team, taking her place in the half forward line and was the taker and maker of many's a score for the St.Brenda's in an era when defences across the country feared the Nab's strike force. Susan was one of that force in 1986 and 87 and will long be remembered by those who had the privilege to play alongside her. Members of the 1986/87 St.Brenda's team that played alongside Susan along with a number of present members, provided a guard of honour at Susan's funeral on Saturday past. Other guards of honour were provided by Middletown football, hurling and camogie clubs. It was a testament to the affection felt for Susan and the high esteem that she had and her family were held, that such a large and dignified combined guard of honour was held. Our sympathies are extended to Susan's husband Trevor, to her children Joseph, Bridget, Michael and Elizabeth, to her parents Mick and Bridget, brothers and sisters and to the wider family circle.
