McKernan, Hugh

May 03, 2007
The late Hugh McKernan Mr Hugh McKernan who died was a well known GAA figure. His funeral took place in his native Ballymacnab after Requiem Mass in St Malachy's Church, Armagh. Married to the former Sheelagh McBride, he resided at 25 Keady Road, Armagh and is also survived by his sons Gregory and Paul and daughter Marissa (Foy). His death at a relatively young age had come as a great shock to all, though he had been experiencing indifferent health. Hugh played football for the Ballymacnab Round Towers and continued to have a great interest in Gaelic games when he finished his career. His family carry on that proud tradition. He made friends easily and will also be remembered for his pleasant manner and kind and obliging nature. Also left to mourn his loss are his brothers Petie and James and sisters Mary (Coleman), Lizzy (Boylan) and Agnes (Creaney), mother in law Mary McBride and large family circle.
