Gibney, Sean

June 30, 2004
The late Sean Gibney The recent death of Mr Sean Gibney, aged 41, of Fairgreen Green, Keady, cast a dark cloud over the town of his adoption. Originally from Newtownhamilton, he was married into the well known Keady GAA family - the Nugents - and is survived by his wife Catherine and family of three boys and three girls. Sean, who had been ill, was himself a prolific GAA man, played for his local club St Michael's, Newtownhamilton and when he came to live in Keady got involved with the local football and hurling clubs. A brother-in-law of Armagh County Board Secretary, Patrick Og Nugent, the deceased was always available when support and help was needed for GAA activities in Keady and further afield. He was a quiet individual, very much a family man, who achieved quite a lot in his relatively short lifetime. To his sorrowing wife Catherine, family Ronan, Derbhla, Aoife, Sean, Patrick and Aine deepest sympathy is extended. Also left to mourn his loss are his mother Mrs Rose Gibney, his mother-in-law, Mrs Doreen Nugent, brothers Eamon, Seamus, Liam, Brian and Christopher and sisters Elish, Deirdre and Ashling and members of the extended Gibney and Nugent families. The largely attended funeral took place on Monday, June 14 from his late residence to St Patrick's Church, Keady for 11.00am Requiem Mass. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetary.
