Eamon Murphy - A Special Tribute
On Thursday 11th October our club made a final farewell to one of our most faithful and hardworking sons as he finally succumbed to cancer after a long and dignified battle.
Eamon Murphy spent most of his life around this club since he was a wee boy growing up in Cregganduff and his ability to make anything we asked for something we called upon on a regular basis. Anything that was broken, anything that needed fixed, anything that needed made by scratch could be made by 'Business'. The last item he made for us was a trolley for the pool table which was an ingenious mixture of car jacks, hydraulics, two by two and wheels and it was a perfect homemade solution to what was a real problem in the club. He also did the bar on a regular basis, every Thursday night for the darts boys and at the weekends when needed. We will truly miss him dearly. We will miss his craftsmanship and his dexterity, but most of all, we will miss the man; a man of decency, of integrity and of loyalty who was cut from the rock of this area. He has gone back to the soil of Creggan, but his presence will always be felt wherever two or more are gathered in the name of Silverbridge GAA. Ar lámh dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
