The club and indeed the whole area have been plunged into mourning due to the untimely death of Barry Malone who died as a result of a work accident on Friday morning.

The late Barry was a member of the club's 1969 Junior Championship and the 1978 Intermediate Championship winning sides. He was a former committee member and Lotto promoter and most of all he was a true gentleman. The late Barry was husband of club member Mairead, father of former playing members, Mark, Darren, and Michael, and former committee member, Steve, brother of former player and committee member, Jim and club member, Marie McParland, uncle of former player and committee member Kieran McParland and former player, committee member and current underage mentor, Con McParland and current playing members Shane, Conor and Tomas Malone and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces who are all involved with the club in various ways.

The committee and members of St. Killian's GAC Whitecross extend their heartfelt sympathy to all and assure them that they are very much in our thoughts and prayers at this most sorrowful time for them. As a Mark of Respect there will be no other items included in these Club Notes and all club activity has been cancelled until later in the week. The late Barry's funeral Mass was this morning at St Malachy's Chapel, Ballymoyer and afterwards he was laid to rest in adjoining graveyard. May Barry's gentle soul rest in peace.
