Mallon, Colm 'Barney'

June 19, 2008
It was with great sadness that the members of Grange GFC and the local community witnessed the recent passing of playing member Colm 'Barney' Mallon. After a relatively short illness, Colm passed away on Thursday 12th June with his family by his bedside. Colm played for the Grange from Under 12 working his way through all the underage levels and ended up holding a key position within the senior forward line. A dedicated and cheerful team player, Colm always made a significant contribution on the field, both at games and during training. Colm had the ability to compete with his great turn of speed and he was certainly not shy of taking a tackle or two. He will be sadly missed around the Grange by all and particularly the players who have lost not only a key team player, but a good friend. The one consolation we have is that we can be assured that he is in a better place now. We can also take inspiration from Colm's example as a person and as a player. The Grange committee and members would like to offer our deepest sympathy to all the members of Colm's extended family who can be assured of our continuous support in these coming weeks and months. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam uasal. Armagh Observer, 19/06/08
