Oisin McConville has hit out at the severity of the penalties handed down to Armagh in the wake of last weekend's controversial Ulster U20FC semi-final against Tyrone.
The Orchard County's extra-time win was marred by a mass brawl in extra-time which has resulted in 10 of their players and seven Tyrone players receiving suspensions as well as both counties being slapped with €3,000 fines by the Ulster CCC. The bans leave Armagh severely depleted for next Sunday's inaugural Ulster U20FC final against Derry, which will be played as a curtain-raiser to the Ulster SFC final between Donegal and Fermanagh in Clones.
"It does not make sense to me," former Crossmaglen and Armagh All-Ireland winner McConville is quoted as saying in the Belfast Telegraph.
"Maybe the Competitions Control Committee is trying to send out a message, but let's wait and see how consistent they and their sister bodies are in future.
"That's the real test they have set for themselves and I am certainly not the only one who is thinking along these lines. These are draconian measures in my view."
