Since beating Meath in a one-sided Leinster semi-final in mid-June, Kildare's footballers have lost six successive games.

The Lilywhites, who had secured promotion to Division One during the Spring, looked like an up-and-coming side as they inflicted a heavy 2-16 to 0-13 defeat on the Royals at Tullamore, but haven't managed to win a competitive match since.

Holders Dublin beat Cian O'Neill's men by nine points in the Leinster final at Croke Park on July 16th before Armagh secured a surprise 1-17 to 0-17 victory in the fourth-round Qualifier at HQ 13 days later.

And things haven't got any better for the Lilywhites so far in 2018. In the O'Byrne Cup, they suffered a 2-11 to 0-9 loss at the hands of Louth at Hawkfield on Wednesday, January 3rd and then fell to Longford at Pearse Park the following Sunday - 1-14 to 0-13.

Kildare could hardly have asked for a tougher start to life in the top flight than facing the Dubs in their own back yard and they duly lost by seven points on Saturday, January 27th. On Sunday last, wayward shooting cost the luckless Lilywhites as Monaghan came away from Newbridge with both points, 1-10 to 0-12.

Tyrone are the visitors to St Conleth's Park this weekend. Can Kildare arrest the slide against the Ulster champions?
