Jim McCorry during his reign with Down

Ex-Down manager Jim McCorry has joined the Armagh senior football management set-up ahead of the Orchard County's 2018 campaign.

McCorry succeeded James McCartan in Down in 2014 but only lasted one season with the Mourne men, having guided Kilcoo to the Ulster club SFC final two years previous. He helped transform the Magpies' fortunes after leading the club to its first Down SFC crown in 79 years in 2009.

The Lurgan man also co-managed Armagh alongside John Morrison during the 1990s, steering his native county to a National League final appearance in 1994.

McCorry will now work under Kieran McGeeney as the Orchard men look to build on this past summer's run to the All-Ireland quarter-finals, with promotion from Division 3 set to be the top priority for the former All-Ireland winning captain's charges.
