The late Seamus White
Seamus White, a stalwart of Ardoyne Kickhams GAC, passed away at the age of 74.
Seamus joined Ardoyne in the 1940s after spending a while with St Galls and over the next couple of decades he proved a committed Kickhams Gael.
Seamus was a loyal servant of the North Belfast club and played both football and hurling at senior level as well as being mentor for several teams when his playing days were over.
His brothers Benny and Sean also joined the club. Sean played hurling while Benny plied his efforts on the football field and lined out for the county on several occasions.
Seamus lost his very close friend Frank Corr, who was murdered by loyalists in 1972.
Seamus and Frank had been managing the hurling team at the time and Seamus was waiting for Frank to go to a game on the night he was murdered.
Seamus also managed some very good minor football teams for the club in the 1960s and as a fellow Gael from the club put it this week, "he was a good clubman and a most agreeable sort of fella."
Seamus moved to West Belfast and was persuaded by Fr McWilliams to get a GAC started in the Turf Lodge area, as a result Seamus became one of the founders of Gort na Mona GAC.
Seamus is a member of the Kickhams Hall of Fame in the Ardoyne club and throughout his life continued to support the club he dearly loved.
Seamus is survived by his wife Bridie and daughter Collette and he will be sadly missed by all Ardoyne Gaels and Gaels from throughout the county.
All who knew Seamus will remember him as a true gael and a perfect gentleman.
