Antrim game a must-win for Midlanders

The Joe McDonagh Cup clash between Antrim and Westmeath at Dunloy this Saturday is a must win game for both sides according to Lake County manager Joe Quaid.

Following Westmeath’s loss to Kerry last time out, they need to get back to winning ways if they are to maintain their push for a place in the final.

They face an Antrim side who had a confidence-boosting win over Offaly last weekend and with the Saffrons having home advantage, Westmeath will have it all to do to come away with a win.

And Quaid told the Westmeath Examiner that they can’t afford anymore slip ups in the remainder of the campaign.

“It’s quite simple really, we need to win our last two games if we want to qualify for the final,” stated Quaid.

“Both of these games will be extremely tough. We face Antrim this weekend and we are expecting a bruising encounter against them.

“Whenever you play a northern team you can be assured that the game will be very physical. That’s their style, we played them already this year and it was a tough contest. You never get anything easy from Antrim.”
