“I’d love to be able to tell you what went wrong, I don’t know.”

Davy Fitzgerald was left scratching his head after Wexford’s defeat to Galway.

“In the first half there was the concession of two goals we probably wouldn’t have been happy with, and could have defended a little bit better, but that happens.”

Kenny’s Tipperary counterpart Liam Sheedy was sporting in defeat.

“We play to win but if we lost the game today or won it, it wasn’t going to change my view that it’s not going to have a big impact either way on the Munster championship.”

Waterford’s Padraic Fanning wasn’t getting carried away following their impressive victory over Clare.

“We were off the pace.”

Clare weren’t at the level they needed to be at as far as joint-manager Donal Moloney was concerned.

“We would have been hoping to have done better. We got an understanding that we have a lot of work to do to prepare for the championship. There is a real battle ahead now.”

The league has been a disappointment for Brian Cody and the Cats.

“We have eight weeks of hard work ahead of us now before we play Tipperary in the championship on May 12.”

Cork boss John Meyler has switched his focus to the Munster championship.

“Little did I think when I took on this job that it would end up here.”

It’s fair to say that Henry Shefflin has made a smooth transition from the playing field to the sideline!

“Ballyhale are a phenomenal side. Even some of the players who are lesser known nationally were outstanding. Adrian Mullen was just ridiculous out there.”
