The late John Morrison
Legendary GAA coach John Morrison has passed away.
A true giant of gaelic football, the colourful Armagh man enjoyed intercounty coaching stints with his native Orchard County, Antrim (as manager), Donegal, Derry, Mayo, Leitrim (joint manager) and Cavan.
Renowned for his innovative and positive approach, he was coach in Mayo in 2006 when, alongside manager Mickey Moran, the westerners famously stunned Dublin after warming up under Hill 16 and progressed to an All-Ireland final date with Kerry. Morrison and Moran also worked together in Derry and Donegal.
As a visionary coach, sports psychologist and master tutor, who wrote and spoke at length about the game and freely shared his expertise not just with players but also with other coaches and managers, Morrison's unique skills were in great demand within and outside the GAA and he was also enlisted by Ulster Rugby and Leicester Tigers amongst others. He also managed the Armagh and Monaghan ladies.
