Division 1 Féile Report.

On Saturday last 27/4/24.

Unfortunately our Girls

bowed out of Feile '24.

Losing out against two extremely strong teams- Killucan and Garrycastle. But our girls never gave up till the final whistle in both matches. You should be very proud of yourselves girl, playing out of Division 1 for the first time and being in the top 6 clubs in the county.

We would like to thank the Castledaly club for

their help and time very much appreciated.

To the girls Management team well done over the past few years you have brought the girls to a different height winning the division 2 title last year and playing out of Division 1 this year. Well done to all involved.

A special thanks to you the parents for bringing girls to their games and training sessions.

We Ballycomoyle football club would like to thank you all so much.

To our supporters thank you all for traveling the long journey to support our Girls Féile team.

But unfortunately this is where our Féile journey ends for 2024.

Under 16 LGFA League Div 3. Round 1 Result.

Athlone 3-09 Ballycomoyle 7-05

Our U16 ladies kicked off their 2024 league campaign away to Athlone on Tuesday evening last. In what's always a tough fixture, the game started with athlone the dominant team, scoring 4 unanswered points in the first 10 mins. Ballycomoyle finally got to grips with the opposition scoring some lovely points, Athlone hit back with a very lucky goal, a great save from our keeper, and a rebound off the Athlone forward ended in a goal. But Ballycomoyle didn't lie down and hit back with a goal of their own. As ref blew for half time, the score line read Athlone 2-04 Ballycomoyle 1-02.

A few half time tactical changes from the Ballycomoyle management team at the interval saw a very different team in the second half. Athlone couldn't get a handle on the game and for 10 mins were pinned in their own half conceding three fantastic taken goals by our girls and even a missed penalty in that time. Saw the Full Time Score Athlone 3-09

Ballycomoyle 7-05.

A fantastic game to watch for the spectators in attendance.

Next up for Ballycomoyle, another tricky away fixture to St Joseph's next Tuesday evening 30/4/24

This was a fantastic game of football showing that Ballycomoyle can compete with the very best out there. The management team have to be congratulated on the tactical way they had the girls fired up for the second

half well done to everyone .

Thanks to Athlone for a very sporting game of football.

Under 14.

Division 2.

Result.

After a late start the match got underway with the visitors taking the lead to go 1-1 up 15 minutes in, they pushed over another 2 points to give themselves a comfortable lead, the Ballycomoyle keeper was busy and pulled off 2 wonderful saves to keep us in the game, at half time we were trailing by 6 points on a score line of 1 -1 to 2-4.

After a wonderful team talk by management and the girls themselves changes were made and the girls got down to business straight away pushing over 2 wonderful points and they found the net which brought them right back into contention and half way through the second half we were trailing by a point.

The girls didn't stop there, the Caulry defence had a difficult task and one by one the goals came.

Every girl played a huge role and when the whistle blew Ballycomoyle were clear winners on a score line of 6-8 to 2-7.

Thanks to Caulry for a very sporting match and some great football, to referee Barry Nea, and to all the supporters for all the encouragement.

Congratulations to all the Girls.

Under 12 Boys. Report.

We had our third game of the season on Friday evening last 26/4/24 at home in Ballycomoyle against Lillyput Gaels. It was an intriguing and exciting game of football and a very close encounter throughout. Even after a tough first half our boys never gave up and had a huge comeback to score the winning point in the last kick of the game.

Thanks to all the lads for their great work and commitment. Again, to their parents for bringing them.

We look forward to Sunday where we take on St. Lomans in Ballycomoyle. Please check our under fixtures on social media. Also our fixtures for the coming week will be on Westmeath Examiner and the Midland topic under Ballycomoyle GAA Notes..

Scór Baile Uí Chumaoil!

Our Senior Scór journey came to an end, unfortunately, on Sunday afternoon last 21/4/24 in The Downs at Leinster Final stage.

On the day Baile Uí Chumaoil was represented by Cliodhna Daly in the Solo Singing competition. Cliodhna sang beautifully, accompanied by Zara Geraghty on guitar, and she should be very proud of her performance. When the results were announced it was the Dublin singer who got the adjudicators nod in what was a very closely contested competition.

Our Nuachleas team of Lorna McCormack, Lorraine Ledwith, Alison Keogh, Helen Coyle, Aidan Keogh, Willie Hilliard, Piaras Walsh and Sean Daly gave their best performance to date of their act but were defeated by Carnew, Co Wicklow, who are going for their 3rd All Ireland title in a row.

Well done to all our competitors who represented the club so well both on Sunday and in the earlier rounds of this year's competition.
