Per my calculations, we're 19 points behind Dublin on points difference so that's a big bridge to gap; realistically, we'd need to beat Carlow well (Don't see that happening) and then Kilkenny to beat Dublin well (Could happen as I'd imagine Lyng will wield the axe and they'll be a bit backs to the wall although Parnell Park is a lot more difficult than Croke Park) ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 305 - 11/05/2024 20:48:55 2544177 Link 0 |
Other games are nothing to do with us. We need to win our games and we're in the Leinster final same situation as last week. I make it 7 years on the bounce now that Leinster is producing a better championship than Munster. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2869 - 12/05/2024 07:59:46 2544185 Link 0 |
16 points I think. But regardless Carlow proved they're not just there to make up the numbers. Any risk of taking them for granted is gone. Kilkenny will be on it now as well. All we can do is try and win our remaining games. Dublin v Galway is a huge game now too. Basically knock out. Hopefully Antrim can produce a big performance against Galway too. Define a better championship Doyler. Leinster risk more competitive than it was but standard wise I wouldn't compare it to last night for example or other games TippvWat or ClareVLim. Great to see Carlow get a result like that but you feel Kilkenny will have something in them yet. Probably playing Carlow at the right time; they will surely have one eye on there last game v Antrim

Clare v Limerick wasn't a great game of hurling in fairness

Well done Carlow. Great to see the minnows of the hurling world capable of providing a shock result against the cats. Magpie2 (Wexford) - Posts: 341 - 12/05/2024 12:39:11 2544245 Link 0 |
Was up in Offaly, a good display. We were easily the better team in what is a very tough place to win. Overall happy, but will need to be better again against Dublin to have a chance of reaching a leinster final, (which would be great). Sean O Brien is an excellent prospect. Talk up there yesterday, was that the semi finalin Parnell Park. How could we have to play them at home again this year? hunting (Wexford) - Posts: 994 - 12/05/2024 12:54:52 2544247 Link 0 |
The funny thing is that if you were to ask me to pick the best five four forwards from both Dublin and Carlow, I'd pick one Dublin player on Dónal Burke and three Carlow players in Chris Nolan, James Doyle, and Mouse Kavanagh. This is not to say that Dublin are bad, it's just that Carlow genuinely have a lot of talent in that forward line plus they have Kevin McDonald at centre-back who's a very good ball-player ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 305 - 12/05/2024 13:26:38 2544249 Link 0 |
Because they finished in the top 2 in the Round Robin.

The standard overall may not be as high yet it's extremely competitive

Cody and Carey definitely have more than niggles and are unlikely to play against Dublin. Kilkenny played their best available team.

Big game ahead Sunday. I think Carlow are just as good as Antrim and we will have to play much better than we did in Belfast. Jacko and Cian will be a loss. We need everyone to step up Sunday. Afinestick96 (Wexford) - Posts: 274 - 13/05/2024 10:39:33 2544428 Link 0 |

Not sure but its rumoured he has a broken finger and looked like he may have pulled or strained his hamstring v Galway before being taken off

Antrim were once again beaten out the gate by Dublin. Beaten by 20 points. Kilkenny beat them by 32 points. They simply can't live with top 8 sides, unless of course they are playing Wexford. Nobody seems to know the reason why we struggle big time against weaker teams. Carlow will be licking their lips in anticipation of playing us. They know we are vulnerable against lower ranked teams and will go out believing they can win. It's up to us to stop the rot in this regard and play like we did v Galway. If we go with our fast running game and get the ball in quickly to Mac, Rory and Chinner we most certainly can build up a winning score. With Jippo back to his best and Damien holding the centre we now look solid in vital positions. Cente field with Hearne and Lawlor give us speed with skill and can create scores for our front men. If Kavanagh and Nolan are curtailed we can and should win this game. But to be honest if we manage to lose I for one won't be surprised.
