Mullingar Shamrocks Notes

LGFA Division 1: Mullingar Shamrocks 4-9 Garrycastle 1-5

We secured our first points in Division One this year after a terrific win away to Garrycastle on Monday night. This was a superb team performance with some notable individual displays. This showing follows on from a very promising display against Milltown the previous week. It was great to welcome back some of our county contingent following their recent games in the Leinster championship.

And significantly some of our younger players are really starting to find their feet at this level.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Lauren McCormack; Rosie O' Grady, Siobhan O' Donnell, Sophie Hegarty; Melik Fagan, Ann-Marie O' Reilly, Sinead Sweeney; Rachel Cheevers, Michela O' Connor; Mairead Newman, Chloe Swarbrigg, Zara Corroon; Grace Daly, Karen Hegarty, Linda Raeside. Killoe Emmet First Blitz of the season for Mullingar Shamrocks G4M&O

Our G4M&O ladies headed off to Emmet Óg Park in Killoe last weekend to participate in their highly entertaining blitz.

The ladies played against teams from Westmeath, Longford and Fermanagh on the day. There was some outstanding passages of play evident in the games from all teams with lots of scoring and wonderful skills on display.

These skills have been finely honed in recent months by the G4M&O ladies coach Niall who has shown great commitment to the team and proving a big motivating factor for the large numbers at training! So many thanks to Niall for his dedication to the team, it is hugely appreciated by all the ladies.

The team have also been very lucky as many generous local sponsors have got behind them and kindly contributed to their kit and training equipment. It is wonderful to see local businesses support our G4M&O team so a special thanks so all the sponsors.

Under-14 Girls v The Downs GAA Club

Well done to our Under-14 Girls LGF team who had a comfortable victory against The Downs on Thursday evening in Springfield. A great team victory with all the girls displaying great skill and enthusiasm.

A special word for referee John Joe Brady impeccably turned out as always and just one year away from completing 60 years of refereeing.

Some record and some dedication to the cause.
