Doesn't win enough hard ball for me, big problem if playing with 2 inside where there will always be a spare defender. I'd start Casey. Lawlor will definitely be midfield

Disappointing for the minors there was definitely 2/3 soft Frees for Dublin in the second half that weren't frees.

I'm not so sure we should be so quick to complain about Dublin getting soft frees in the Minor, I don't think the referee really had much of an impact on the game

The big concern for me was that we got cleaned out of it in duels in the air and duels on the ground, we were always fighting a losing battle there. And then we made it worse by launching long ball and long ball on top of their defence when it clearly wasn't working. The few times we did work the ball short, we found some success, it was a bit like the U20s game against Dublin; we're much better at working the ball short yet we seem to insist on going long

We hit a few wides in the second half but so did Dublin in both halves, the only real part of the game where we had a clear advantage was in terms of creating goal opportunities, we created about 4 or 5 through running at them and got about 2-00 from those chances, they created 2 goal opportunities in the whole game from lumping long balls into the square and got 1-01 from them

O'Brien was the class act in the forward line but we struggled to score from play on the whole, we didn't help ourselves by not winning primary possession and playing bad ball in but we were still very dependent on O'Brien in the attack

And for those who like to bring up our record at Leinster Minor in the last 35-40 years, ask yourself how many All-Ireland Minors Limerick have won in that timeframe compared to Galway. Could also look at the Dublin footballers who haven't really dominated at Minor level in a long time. Not saying is all perfect or that we shouldn't aim to be better but the goal of underage teams should be to develop players for Senior first and foremost, size matters a lot at Minor level so good Minors don't always become good Seniors and not all good Seniors were stand-out Minors

Fair summary of the game. Thought the lads battled hard but were beaten by the better team. To be fair Dublin hit a huge number of wides. Also thought we fumbled the ball throughout, got cleaned out in the air and our short puck out strategy broke down by either carrying the ball into the tackle or aimless ball being hit forward. Dublin centre back cleaned up much like his Galway counterpart did a few weeks ago.

My Second game of the day in the Nell!!

Dublin bottled it once the fans start singing and Kilkenny shut them out across the half back line. I'd be concerned about our ability to win ball against that Kilkenny half back line.

Anyway the nerves have kicked in ahead of tomorrow!

The only positive is we don't have to go up there next week and theyre on the back of a draw and a loss

Getting ready to make my way up to Carlow now. What an incredible day it is for hurling, I'm absolutely buzzing for the match, a couple of 99s, and a few auld strawberries. Fairly nervous about it too and would take your hand off for a win of the smallest margin. Best of luck to the lads, safe travels to anyone heading and of course, Loch Garman Abú!!!

Will be keeping an ear. I don't mind you winning, just by not too much :-)

Have to be happy with that, turned a potential banana skin into a cakewalk, and have a safety blanket of a score difference now in the event of ourselves and Dublin both losing (can see them losing by a bigger margin than us in that scenario). Carlow did look a bit starstruck and dropped their heads after the soft goal they conceded, but we were excellent regardless. Did what we had to do and then some.

Onto the de facto Leinster semi-final next week. Having watched KK last night, they are still vulnerable to a running game, although Donnelly and Keoghan are hurling the lights out and Cody has returned looking sharp too. Great to have a more upbeat mood taking them on this year though and it should be an incredible occasion (raging I will miss it).

Kilkenny will be much better next week. We keep beating them which they hate. The injured players have got game time, and if they don't win they could be out of the championship. It's set up to be a cracker.

We were excellent today all over. A massive win and 15 scorers. Four of them off the bench.

We had 6 different lads on the scoreboard after 8 minutes. 2 goals for Mac and could easily have had a third. Also nobody got injured which is important. I can't believe we passed Dublin on score difference. That wasn't even in my head this morning.

People can talk about Munster all they want. Next weekend is the hurling I was raised on and live for. I can't bloody wait.
